"Mullet House" Business in the Front, Party in the Back

alvarado-house-2.jpgAlvarado House by Terry & Terry ArchitectureFound this one on Design-Milk.com ----> I love it when designers use different design elements and techniques together to make a whole new style, but this is a whole different concept. this house uses two ridiculously different architectural styles but keeps them completely separate; Victorian in the front and Bauhaus in the back... its a great way to let your house stay traditional and blend in well with the rest of the neighborhood, but to show your personal style to those that you let into your home. this was achieved one of my favorite architecture teams Terry&Terry Architecture who are one of the leaders in modern style with a green twist which is always nice to see...

Here are some inside and backyard shots...

Inside the house the elements are flawlessly intergrated to make a comfortable balance of old meets new or what i like to call "giving an old dog new tits"

What are some tips you can give to be your type of professional?
Tenacity is important and hard work is always a good bromide trying to see the big picture of where you want to go and what you want to do and do it with integrity

artists statement- "Like cucumbers into pickles, I transform images from the world that exists around us. As I walk backwards through memory to develop my universe, the experience becomes a swirling mediation of: colors, textures, lines, and forms. My painting process, of initially a wet-into-wet technique, merges forms and colors into evolving subject matter inspired by personal associations derived from the mechanical and natural worlds. The procedure of painting becomes cinematography. The resulting imagery often has a very specific and generic appearance at the same time. Being that the forms are purposefully enigmatic, they are subject to multiple interpretations. In exploring these highly personalized images, I believe that I touch a mystical chord that uncovers ideal forms embedded in my mind's eye through the use of the material. The paintings acquire meaningful depth and breadth through tactile qualities, humor, unique appearance and technical facility. The outcome is work with an essentially abstract notion of beauty, and patinated in memory." The way he speaks about his art is one of the most impressive features of his personality and it reveals his true passion for art other than his true talent.
